We’ve all heard the phrase, “Communication is key”, right? Well, that is the truth when it comes to all the relationships in your life. Your spouse, significant other, children, family, friends—it all comes down to how we communicate.
In this video, I talk about how the way we communicate with the people in our lives can affect our relationships. When times are tough, the way we talk to each other can make situations better or even worse. Nobody likes confrontation, but when it comes down to it, talking it out is the only way to find the root of the problem and figure out a solution together.
When I must have tough conversations with my husband, kids, family or friends I just remind myself to keep the following things in mind:
1. Don’t be afraid to speak up and voice your feelings, wants, needs, etc. You have your reasons for why you feel a certain way so make sure you express them to the best of your ability.
2. Honesty within communication is so important. Always speak your truth.
3. Listen to the other person and let them express their thoughts and feelings.
4. Again, no one likes confrontation (myself included), but just keep in mind that sometimes you have to go through the bad to get to the good.
5. Remember it’s better to clear the air than let things get worse.

All the relationships we have in our lives require work and that includes having the tough conversations. But once you establish healthy communication skills with the people in your life, it creates a strong, solid bond that opens the door to long lasting relationships.
Honestly, I am still working on my communication skills every day. There is always room for improvement in how we express ourselves to our loved ones. It may not be easy, but it feels so much better when you clear the air together and move forward.
How do YOU communicate with the people in your lives? Please share any tips or tricks that have helped you because remember…we are all still learning!
Always remember that we may not be getting any younger, but we are getting better. Embrace your life and live it to the fullest!
