We all have a “nightmare at the airport” story, don’t we? We always wish that our travels will go smoothly, but sometimes the Universe has other plans.
The only way to describe our travel story is simply, “spring break at the airport”. I don’t mean it as a means of travel, I mean it as the airport was our final destination (or at least we thought so).
There we were, ready to head to sunny Florida for some R&R, walking around in the beautiful, newly-renovated terminal. Not a care in the world, as long as we find our gate, have snacks ready, fully charged phones, and AirPods in tow…what would go wrong?!
Until we found out, there is no destination, no plane, and after facing cold hard reality, NO WAY of getting to Florida. Our plane kept getting delayed due to technical difficulties. We even made it onto the plane, but eventually had to exit!
But I got to thinking, there is a silver lining within each event (my ever-patient husband would agree). At least they were making sure the plane was safe so we travelers can make it to our destinations in one piece. And with the new terminal, which was similar to a mall, we got some extra quality time while waiting for our flight. Counting my blessings.
Along the way, we met some nice people, and we were able to help a few seniors (who I imagine were snowbirds that head south often due to how resourceful they were). In fact, they were the ones who informed us that our luggage was already in Florida (sigh). No worries…we were reunited with our luggage eventually.
It turns out, it is about the journey (not just the destination—haha).
